Getting the Wheeling Fever
I took my 95 LS in to get a miss diagnosed and the mechanic hooked the code reader thing up to her and couldn't get any thing at all.The truck's system would'nt read anything at all even though the check engine light is on.Any ideas?I have to run it without the over drive on and in power mode just to get some drivablity. So something is without doubt amiss(no pun intended!)

Don't forget it's not OBD-II compatible. If she's using a mitsu compatible code reader then it should read something. If not, the ECU could be bad.

I would take it to another tech. Did he try to disconnect a sensor to see if the system can produce a code? Did he do a test to see what is causing the misfire? Is his scan tool any good? There are to many questions to provide an answer.

Other than hooking up the code pulling unit no test was tried. the mechanic is trying to get a hold of the mitsubishi people here today for some advise and another fitting for her code puller.

This should be interesting. I've never heard of or met a competent female mechanic. No chauvinism here - just never found one...

You can read the codes yourself on a 95 ls with a volt meter. I dont have the info with me, but you could probably find it on some Diamante forums. I have done it before. You just connect the clips to two pins on the obd connector and then read the meter sweeps like morse code. Some mitsu forum out there should be able to tell you which pins and the code translation.

If he wants to obtain the codes manually, he has to ground #1 terminal of the diagnostic connector and with the key on, the check engine lamp will flash codes.
