I am no expert of the frames at all but it also depend on the country. The 3.1 was never introduced to S.A. The 2.8 was continued much longer. Hence my swap to the 2.8 (at a cost <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Just a comment the 2.8 and 3.1 may have the same block but the heads are a lot different as is the injectors.

Maintenace is high but woth it.
Isuzu goes places!
