Getting the Wheeling Fever
What 4Wheel Parts sold me is a Quick Lock made by Genuine Gear(white box). Physicaly it looks just like a Lock Right made by Richmond Gear(black and yellow box). They differ from the Detroit EZ Locker in that the side gears are flat, not concave.
I have since taken mine apart and discovered that I left out two flat washers at the end of the axle spacers that the instructions said nothing about.
It has cooled down to 93 at 9:00pm but now I'm to tired to put it back together.
I'LL BE BACK.

Ok, let me get this right in my head. You drove it and found it to be not working correctly. THEN you looked and found extra parts? Put the extra parts where they belong and try again.
Using it on dry ground is ALWAYS going to give you problems. It is not advised to do. Find some soft stuff to drive on when in 4x4.

There is a specific distance required between the driven and driver teeth. Those shims are usually used to get that distance right, but more importantly, they are also the bushing used when the axle is being pulled out.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I contacted 4Wheel Parts with my problem, he said that the washers were for the non c-clip axle. I inspected and re-installed everything exactly as the instructons indicated. After doing this a second time, I realized that there was no other way the parts could go in and there was no place for the washers. Back on the road, exactly the same, I couldn't fully let the clutch out before the loud snapping and banging started.
I did notice one thing, my nephews LockRight kit had a new cross pin with no flats, my QuickLock required me to use my old pin with four flats machined in, [Linked Image] .
what do you think about this being my problem, even tho' my instructions said nothing about a new pin required?
I'm getting to old for this stuff!

Body Damage is Cool
Once you have had bad noises while drive in a straight line, this indicates teeth sheared off and a trashed locker.
Take it all apart have a look.

Of course you are using the OE thrust washers, between the case and the side gear?

Hey Fresno Jack the thing up and turn the wheels by hand.. see if they will turn.. look closely and listen to what is happening in there. It is hard for me to think of anything you could have done wrong in there and still got it back together... but then again if you live long enough you will see it all.

Those machined grooves are usually a thrust surface or clearance for the shaft. Either way, they will work fine with the locker.

Teeth are still there, slight wear (didn't drive enough to damage). O E thrust washers are in place. When jacked up, turning one wheel produces the slight ratcheting as it should, since the opposite wheel is not turning, then when turning the driveline, both wheels turn as they should. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Fresno There is a possibility that you have installed an incorrect locker in your vehicle.
I think I would get on the phone and call the factory and the vendor and make sure you have the correct locker.
Oh and another question...are the tires the same size on each axel?
