My two cents on the price problem is like what has been stated, but I don't agree with a parts shortage. I haven't had any more problems today than I did back in 87 with my first Trooper. There has never been much of an after market for parts and Mods but same with every other import with the exception of Toyota and a few late model Nissan trucks. Before you cry the blues check out the resale on Ford Explores or 90's Suburbs
