They are not the same. The A340H shares fluid between the transfer case and transmission and the parking mechanism is in the transfer case, so it cannot be removed from the transmission. The above is not true of the A340F. They also have different shift characteristics. I think that the gear ratios are the same (2.7ish?) and they are both chain driven cases.
