My Dad told me to do some research and find a good pressure washer for him to buy. I figure about 10 of you guys will be experts on pressure washers, and be glad to help me out. The only thing I'm thinking, is that we want a Honda engine...but other than that, I'm not sure WHAT to look for. It will be used a few times a year to clean masonry or concrete...and many times a year to clean stuff around my house and our dirt bikes. How many PSI should we get? What horse engine? It seems like there are too many variables to make good decision, but Dad wants to buy one soon (it's a tax right off for him as a business expense as well).

Stony,

You can take this for what it's worth...

I've got a fairly inexpensive electric pressure washer. It came from Lowes, I believe.

We use it about a dozen times a year, and have had it for about four years. It works just fine and I've never found a task it wasn't up to. We've cleaned masonry, home exterior, etc, etc.

It'll cost you about 1/3 of what a gas powered one will cost.

87 Montero, bought new, by me -
88/89 intercooled Starion Turbo engine-
with awesome audio.

some job site don't have power, so we were leaning toward gas powered. How many PSI does yours produce? I borrowed one from a friend when I first bought my house and it was 2800psi, and it was great...took the paint right off the stone around my house so I could repaint.

You won't get anything close to that with mine.

I, apparently, misunderstood your post. If you're looking for commercial use or 2800 PSI - go gas.

The important stats are psi and gpm. For concrete cleaning, I recommend a minimum of 3000psi and 4gpm. Should find one of those with a Honda for around 800-1000 bucks.

for 559 this one looks pretty good:
2500 PSI, 2.3 GPM and 5.0 HP
Motor: Gasoline Honda GC160
Pump: Comet (5 year warranty)
5750 Cleaning Units
Chemical Injector
Black Powder Coated Frame
10" Tubed Pneumatic Tires
Trigger Gun and 36" Insulated Wand
4 Spray Nozzles - 0? 15? 25? 40?
25 FT of Pressure Hose w/QC connector
Direct Drive
Weight: 80 lbs

Little light on PSI and GPM, but might work for us. I'm a BIG fan of warranties

Got a Karcher unit on sale the last time I was in Canada (almost 10 years ago). Still performs well up to now.

Don't know much about the specs, though.

I got a 2800psi 2.5gpm with honda engine at lowes a couple years back for $429. It had all the nozzles and the fancy brush with it along with the chemical hook up attachment. It gets used several times a month only thing I added was a hose extension(for the wand).
