Should an 82 22R continue to run when you pull a battery terminal off? With one Voltage reg, it stutters but keeps
running. With another voltage reg, it shuts down immediately. What's up with up that?

uuuhhhhhhhhh it should die..... Sounds like the voltage regulator is holding a charge enough to let it run a little..... wierd

Getting the Wheeling Fever
my friend once had a firebird and we would boost it to start it (had no battery) and run it around in his parents field! Granted it would only run for about a minute or so.... but it did run.
I don't know if the 22R would do the same thing but... I would think the alternator would keep it running for a while until it burns out.

most older cars will run without the battery connected as long as the alternator is good. i guess its all how its wired.

when the truck shuts down, that voltage regulator must be bad. the truck is just running off the battery, and when you disconnect it, it dies. obviously.
