Are you sure the distributor was stabbed in at 0 TDC? Would be the place to start, assuming the TC chain was also properly installed.

Also make sure the TPS has been set back up properly.

i thought my chilton said to stab it at 5*? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

is there any way to check the timing chain 100% with out pulling the oil pump off? im pretty sure the vavle timing is right because i put the thing at TDC and made the TC sproket tilted slightly to the drivers side like it always was... is there a better method?
i have an aftermarket TC with no "bright links" so its tough...

Does the idle change when you install the jumper? If not, leave it at 12*BTDC, then go after your TPS.

The dot on the cam sprocket should be just to the left of the top (11:30 position). If you have to the right, then you need to pull the cam sprocket off and rotate it a tooth or two. You don't need the shiny link to set this up. Just make sure the crank is at TDC and the cam dowel is at TDC then install the cam sprocket at make sure the dimple on the sprocket is just before TDC.

thanks 4crawler but i have no "bright links" on my aftermarket chain and i would rather not have to pull the tc cover off again... wat are the chances of me getting it right if i set it to tdc and point that dimple at 1130-1145?
