Getting the Wheeling Fever
The speedy sleeve doesn't create too much interference with the seal? Cuz my pully is grooved, and I need to fix it.

Body Damage is Cool
The speedy sleeve is very thin, works great. Just be careful installing. I gently tap around the ring with a small piece of wood carefully. Don't go pounding on it with a hammer <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />

Number of ways to fix this leak. A sleeve is one way. Ive had good results just seating the seal 3/4 of the way into the oil pump. Replace the oil pump and oil pump seal while you have this apart....no matter how you fix the main seal leak.

PS... I have like 5 front main seals laying around for 22R's. If you want one Ill send it to you for the price of shipping. I have these extra seals because a total rebuild kit that includes an oil pump also has another one in the gasket kit....and I have been known to rebuild a few 22R's.

Can someone take a picture of the grooved section of the pulley?

I have never seen one, so it'll be nice to know what it looks like when I'll take mine off.

Why do I have to replace oil pump? How do I know if I need a speedy sleeve? Does the sleeve go in btwn the oil pump & the front main seal, as a spacer thing?

He is referring to "Re-install" oil pump. It makes it easier to replace the seal if you work on the pump on the bench. You can replace the seal with the pump body still on the engine though.

Looks like the one in the rear; steel.

[Linked Image]

Speedy sleeve is the one in the front. The rear one is the tool used to tap the sleeve on.

also you want to replace the oil pump o ring while your in there ,sometimes the o ring dries up and leaks around the oil pump to timing cover area.

FarmerTed- are you sure you don't have that backwards? I've never used a Speedy-sleeve, but that front one looks way too thick to me. I would think that that much of an increase in the diameter of the pulley sealing surface would toast the seal from too much friction- seals a sensitive little buggers. Incidentally, does any one know the Napa part number for the SS? I'm gonna pick one up tommorrow. Maybe I'll just check the Napa website. I'll let you know what I find out...

Screw that- the Napa website both sucks and blows. So does anyone have that part number?
