Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have a 1999 4runner coolant leak. I get a little puddle on the driveway every morning. It's not coming from the radiator hoses. Could it be the headgasket?

Is there a recall on the headgasket for a 1999 4 runner? The 4runner has about 130k miles.

No there is no head gasket recall for 1999. The ended it in 1996.
The leak you have is probably water pump if you still have original.

The leak is coming from the back of the engine. Could it be the heater hoses?

Yes, it could be a heater hose or a small coolant line. The best way to check it is to pressure test the system. You'll probably be able to locate the leak this way.

FWIW, there has NEVER been a recall for the head gasket. Toyota had a Special Service Campaign (SSP V06) for head gaskets. This was a special warranty; recalls are for safety issues.

HG recall was for the 3.0 and 14K of the first 3.4 engines.

I second the pressure check.
