The Nate Harrison grade is nothing more than a dirt road with a lot of switchbacks. It will take you all of 15 min to drive up that hill. Depending on what day and time you go, there may be a lot of mountain bikers riding that road that will all go ape ***** over the dust your kicking up, and if your sliding around those corners (very fun by the way) you might even get called in to the sheriff, who will be waiting at the top or bottom for you. If I was you, I would head out to ocotillo wells for some night fun. It's probably well over 100 deg. in the day now isn't it? More trails, and less chance of killing mountain bikers. Is Los Coyotes still open? I miss that place. Lots of challenges in there.

should have known... well man drinking and smoking weed are on two opposite sides of the planet. i drive stoned every day. it really does not affect my decision-making process. Whatever!!!!! Someday when you grow up and look back on your life you will think "Man that was stupid" I hope you live that long to remember this post and you say to yourself "you know that burned out old Hippie was right" Do what you are going to do but get a Hi-Lift, shovel, and tow strap and tell someone who cares where you are going and about what time you should be back.

oi....if you think pot doesnt affect your judgement, you smoke too much. ive done plenty of stupid things whilst high and later when i was sober, i looked back and said 'holy crap, that was dumb" judgement is all relative and you have no basis for comparison here....MODERATION is the key here....leave the bowl at home or at camp and celebrate a good off road run with no broken parts when you get back to camp.

don't try to analyze my post and assume things about me or my friends. i go places alone because my job involves driving alone, and in between calls, rather than driving home, i find places to go, alone. all i can say is, where i live, within my peer group and family, its an entire different culture than that you know, wherever all of you live. my point is, where i live, we smoke reefer and listen to good music, every day, its part of my life. i'm not asking you to tell me how to live my life...just some tips for someone who wants to drive on a dirt road. jesus. you can't take a couple paragraphs someone wrote on the internet and suddenly have this perfect picture of what the person is. people are fearless on the internet - you can just try and break someone down and make them feel like sh t, because you don't see a person. you're in fantasy internet personality mode. i want to see you talk sht to someone like that in person that comment about leaving the bowl back at camp - you're right. that is the smart way to go. i guess i just included a comment that was not necessary. but i do know this - if i'm driving to the top of palomar mountain, and its a half hour drive back home, i'm smoking a bowl there and enjoying the view
i thank all of you who gave me some real responses, i don't know if i'm going to do it but i'm not really worried about it, i don't feel that it is a situation i can't get myself through, it sounds really mellow. i am lacking experience but i have common sense (lets hear the next string of internet ***** comments)
kids, don't do drugs. don't do anything someone tells you to do on the internet, you should be smarter than that

speaking from experience it sounds like you should be fine. I use to smoke that much just a few years back and I went wheeling all the time. Broke parts here and there but never did anything I regret other than breaking my rig late at night and having to call a budy to pull me out and tow me home. That stuff happens when your not high! Just take your time and get experience as you go. Enjoy the scenery for me if ya know what I mean

Well...manchester, you're no different from anyone else. No one's perfect. We all make our own choices, right or wrong and hopefully, learn from them. If you wanna drive up some dirt road to get high and watch the sunset, knock yourself out. However, the moderator makes a valid point. This is a 4x4 forum and nothing else. Mentioning your...ahum...wanting to smoke a bowl, caused a severe knee jerk reaction. Maybe most of these guys that responded, were a bit judgemental, but remember, we were all young once too. Here's something else to think about. In your first post, "off-roading for a beginner", you asked for advice about 4wheeling because you're inexperienced. But then in your last post, you wrote, "i don't know if i'm going to do it but i'm not really worried about it, i don't feel that it is a situation i can't get myself through, it sounds really mellow. i am lacking experience but i have common sense". So, I guess what I don't understand is, why bother to ask, if you ain't worried ? Lecture's over, go have fun and be safe !

You're free to do as you please, but please understand this is not the "Grab a bong and go wheeling forum" - so enough about puffing it and driving. And since pot is still illegal, we don't need your rationalization here. You hopefully learned a lesson (if you're not too "baked"): keep the pot ***** off here.
On a personal note, this is likely the stoopidest thread on this forum in years, if not all time. Congratulations. why? because i mentioned smoking pot in it? whatever, ass Bye!

Well then....
That was interesting reading. Way to go, Joe. (insert sound of football being punted here)
I will gladly tell him to his face that being a stoner is a losing proposition. Oops and I are in the same camp with that....but that's for the OT board.
So...
