Welcome,congrats on getting bit by the wheeling bug.
A few tips that may help;
Bring a buddy,don't get yourself into off camber situations (thats sidways tilting) and take it slow.4x4's handle really differnt is 4low, it takes some getting used to.
A High lift jack,good shovel,3 ton come along and some extra long tow straps will usually get you unstuck. Don't forget your spare tire and some water for your radiator.

As for smoking and drinking go right ahead. I'd suggest making camp and doing it there instead of behind the wheel but it's your lifespan, make it as long or short as you like.
As an active member of search and rescue I see roll over and "oops, I drove off a cliff" accidents all the time.
A 22 year old girl and her boyfriend died in a Jeep accident up here yesterday going 15 miles per hour.
