that is exactly what happened. But two valves suffered the same fate. Yeah and no jet valves here. Clearwater head...this is the third time I've had a problem with the head. Man, I was just looking for a quick fix. Now I think I can piece together a good head from the two I have. I have a non jet valve head that just needs some cleaning and new guides put in. So I guess it's gonna be a day of runing around trying to get my head fixed.

What causes the valve to do that???

IIRC, The clearwater head uses re-ground valves to keep the price down. If the edge gets to thin all it takes is a little nick and the hole begins to burn thru.

The head is going to need a valve job with a set of matching new valves. It should not hurt you to much.

Forgwet the clearwater head. The head that burned the valves came from Clearwater and the told me the only thing that wasn't "new" was the cam. They also told me that they only sell non jet valve heads but they sent me a new casting with eliminators in it. That really made me mad. Therefore I did not return my old head which was a true non jet valve head and I refused to pay the core. They didn't argue.

Anyways, I'm gonna take the non jet valve one in and see about getting it fixed. It only had a bad valve guide in #4 exhaust when I took it off. I have the new guides just need someone to put them in since I lack the proper tools...

Good quality new exhaust valves may not be a bad call. Teh valves are cheap compared to the work required to swap the head.

There are stellite faced or stainless steel availible.

Thanks man but I shouldn't need them. Remember that head that I had on first that had a guide start leaking? I'm gonna fix that one and trash the clearewater one...
