Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'm in the process of gathering up the stuff to put onboard air in my YJ. My question is, Do I need a tank? Won't the compressor put out enough air to run my tools or air up my tires?
I'm using a York air conditioning compressor for a pump.
I already have a 3 gallon tank I could mount, but I want to see if it's necessary first.

Your going to want it as something to mount the pressure blow off and on/off switch as well as a buffer. The AC compressors are capable of 300 PSI or more, with just a line on it it will be hard to keep the pressure in a useable range. You can use some 3" pipe along the frame as a way to get a fitting to the rear and as a tank...

a great number of the ranchers down here in thorn country use a pipe bumper for a tank. I had not seen a pipe along the frame but that is an idea worth looking into also.

If it is ran with the frame it is protected from large boulders and such. If it is galvanized pipe, it should take a good beating...
