You set it so that the idle speed with the A/C on (if present) or with power steering working (if present) is somewhat higher (under load) than without the accesory on. Usually something around 1000 RPM works fine. If you set the speed too high (like 1200 or higher) you *will* get into the ECU's idle cutout RPM and the engine will cut out when you hit the brakes.
