Agreed. Sounds like speculation, and regardless its not like you can prove yourself right.... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

There were many factors in this. Time, money, rigs avalaible to come out there. Rigs that could actualy MAKE it out there, terrain. And most of all i just didnt know that wheel was burryed in the mud that solid. I figured it was in a hole and it would pop up with enough force. But saddly no the only way it came out was by breaking the leaf and alowing the axle to rotate and drag.

I will never hit a mudhole again. Its that simple. I like rocks and unless u have a fullsize chevy or somethen on 44" tires with d60s and 14 bolt rear mud will destroy you. I hate goen into somethen under water that i cant see.

Im sure a crane coulda pulled me out just fine. But i dont think one could have made it out there and for the pricetag of like 1000 bucks to rent one... i donno.

anyhow whats done is done.

Sorry if I missed the answer elsewhere in the thread, but I was curious how you got it out of there after it got pulled out of the mud hole. It doesn't look drivable. Were you able to get a flatbed out there or something? Or were you able to make temporary repairs to get off the trail?

We towed the truck out. The axle kinda pulled back into place ish. and i could kinda steer. I had rear wheel drive so i could kinda back up and reposition myself when i needed but the engine was running really poorly so it was only good for flat. I had my trailer with me but i didnt have the ramps for it. So i drove up the guy who pulled me outs trailer and then backed my trailer up to his and lowered the ramps then backed onto mine. then rolled it off when i got home and drove it over to where it is now. and now the front end has been stripped off.

Pretty cool that it was self-loading; a small consolation.

After spending one afternoon butt-deep inna hole, jacking up a friend's frame off a snag we didn't see, I'll take a few minutes and drag a light chain thru a hole if I've never been thru there before. Looks like you hit something solid in there from the looks of things, ground or otherwise. We bent the heck out of the above truck too; worth draggin' a hole from there on out.

Check the F/S here for about a month or so; a few rigs out there. Also watch your local Craigslist.

When you were pulling it with the winch, did you notice the leafs slowly bending back or did the whole front end spring like that in a quick shock/impact?

Sorry about all the damage. Good luck getting back on the trail.

Eh....it'll buff out.....Sorry man had to say it. all the "sorry to hear that dude" have been used up.

I have been in that situation before, not to that extent but been there. [Linked Image]

Mud can hide a lot of things. including a stump and when I hit it at a high rate of speed, It jack some stuff up. I called it quits on the mud after that.

Why are you going to sell the truck? it is in good shape, it's all the stuff that is bolted to it thats screwed up. I say sell the axles and save up for a 4.3 and some 1tons.
