I'm not sure exactly what's its technical term, but the metal shield that protects the inside/backside of the rotors/wheel hub. Well, my driver rear finally rusted off. It actually got stuck between the wheel and rotor, but I was able to yank it out.

My question is do I need to replace it? Any harm from having the one rear rotor exposed? Mind you, I'm up in the salty snow belt region.
