The guy I bought my truck from just did the timing chain (himself), and it's low on power, and I've checked everything (mostly). Look to see if the pin for the cam gear is at 12:00 and the timing mark is at 0*. If when timing the ignition, the distributor isn't set about mid hole of the adjustment slot, chances are the cam is off, giving you the symptoms you have described.
