Getting the Wheeling Fever
The subject line says it all. I have a 97 Trooper 3.2V6 with 127,000 miles. The lifters are starting to make some noise so, back in the old days if you replaced the lifters you would also the cam shaft as well, do I still need to do this for these engines? My instinct tells me yes, but what say you guys?

You probably don't need to replace the lifters. That's a common thing for them to start ticking. Do a search for something like ... +3.2 +tick ... or something along those lines. Putting the + in front helps narrow the search down. VERY common issue. Typically running 0w-30 synthetic takes care of or quitens it down.

Body Damage is Cool
IF YOU DO HAVE TO REPLACE THE LIFTERS BECAUSE YOU CAN,T GET THEM TO QUITEN DOWN ,NO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REPLACE THE CAM, AS THE CAMS NEVER TOUCH THE LIFTERS AS THEY DO IN A PUSH ROD ENG ,THE LIFTER,S SIT RIGHT ON TOP OF THE VLV STEMS IN THE END OF THE ROCKER ARMS, AS IN THE CASE OF YOUR ENG , THE CAM LOBES ARE NOT GROUND ON A TAPER AS IN A PUSH ROD ENG SO THEY DO NOT HAVE TO MAKE THE PUSH ROD AND OR THE LIFTER ROTATE , SO THE LOBES ARE GROUND FLAT STRAIGHT ACROSS ,, JERRY
