At some point I swore that I found something here on 4x4Wire about replacing front brake pads (mine is a 98 Tacoma). I searched to no avail. Can anyone point me in the right direction for finding a "tutorial" on replacing front brake pads?

You've got the front end maintenance section in the Toyota section above, and the FSM sticky'd here for your application.

The front end maintenance article gets you thru the hub stuff if you need it.

We have an article on brake work for a 4Runner, which should be identical for your vehicle.

So if anyone could answer within the next couple hours of daylight that would be great because I have both front wheels off and am ready to go and dont want to have to do it again. I am replacing my brakes and all is well except that the retainer pins will not come out. Should they slide out easy or is the fact that I am in the rust belt effecting them. I tried hitting them with a hammer but they wont budge, whats the deal here? Yes I did take out the pin that holds them in. Help please.

As you saw in the writeup, they're made to slide out so I'd say you're correct, they're rusted.

So what now? I sprayed a lot of blaster on them and might try again in a couple days, maybe wire brush the area and get what I can off. Any suggestions?
