Believe me I know what it's like driving a gutless rig. Mine drives like an underpowered fully loaded dumptruck and it's so frustrating, I'm trying to decide whether or not I even want to keep it or buy something else.

However, the AC only robs a few horsepower from the engine. I can feel a very slight difference with the AC on, but if you have a major different, you may have other issues related to the AC, like some plumbing in the vacuum system.
