Sounds like it could possibly be what I call a "nuisance trip" ... it happens from time to time with circuit breakers and fuses. They sometimes trip/blow for no apparent reason. If you have a circuit that draws heavy startup surges (like a motor) over time the metal of fuse elements will actually fatigue due to physical movement (see magnetostriction on wiki). Some C.B.'s act in a similar manner, but I'm not sure what type is used in that circuit. Many C.B.'s will begin to trip at lower currents as they age, I've replaced hundreds (not in cars though)...
