if i could get air lockers front and rear that would be great. I am definately interested as soon as this goes up for sale.
Im guessing there is probably enough interest here as well to get a decent price on these. anyword on how much they would be going for?
would it include compressor, etc etc... or just the lockers themselves? what type of compressor would we need? is a tank needed?
im excited.

I wont tell you what I am gessing only what I know as fact.
The first test mule hads put it at the rear. The second has if front and rear...
AFAIK the price ( that I dont know) does not include the air compressor. As for the tamk I dont know..
I am also anxius.. Note here. The guy is not a proffecional in making diffs, it producess them at its free time..

WOW!!! If this guy isn't a pro he sure does pro type work for the most part. Adapting the actuator is a little kludge, but the locker looks pro to me.
Has he just found lockers from another application that fit and is just adapting them to the Sportage or what?
If so, maybe we can get this part state side and adapt it ourselves like he is doing.

I'll make a short introduction on the 'Greek made locker'. The principle of this locker is a mechanical movement, inside the differential, which 'locks' the gears. This mechanical movement is coming from the pneumatic cylinder which is adupted outside the diff, on the third member, and connected through a rod to the diff. The advantage of this type of actuation is that we have total isolation between the differential and the air with its ingredients (humidity, dust, etc.). So we have not any possible 'polution' of the diff lubricant. The locker is not an aduptation of existing parts, but a completely new idea and application. In order to be installed it is necessary to be delivered together with the third member of the diff, because it is necessary the fitting modification for the actuator. If we talk for front and rear lockers it would be useful an airtank. It makes no sense to deliver the air compressor together with the lockers. It can be used any air compressor from the local market.
For the moment it looks like to operate with not any problem, but we think that the trial time is not long enough yet, for overseas delivery. It is more logical a few more time of patient in order to avoid any unexpected situation. Any additional information will be written here.
These days it is in progress the modification in my KIA including F&R lockers and a big surprise!!!
Keep connected.........

I have seen this sort of design before. There is a large company in Australia that now makes similar lockers for the more mainstream models. By all accounts so far, very much stronger and without the "O" ring difficulties of the ARB's. One design idea from this one would be to reverse the "blade" and "channel", so the "external selector ring" (diagram) sliding in and out of the differential hemisphere has the "blade" (making the design slimmer, allowing for more engagement from the sliding pins), and putting the "channel" on the screw in air actuator. One other thing the do in their is to use an air actuator situated inside their diffs mounted to the bearing cap bolts. This avoids any "critical" alignment of the air actuators mounted through the third member. Seen here seperated and here mounted ![[Linked Image]](http://www.mcnamaradiffs.com.au/photos/difflock_small.jpg) The obvious advantage is it only needs a non critical hole to be drilled for the air line access. If you need use an external air actuator would it be possible to provide (say) a 25 x 25 x100mm bar of steel that is drilled with an alignment hole in it to clamp and bolt to the third member hard up against the webs, using the bolt holes that join the third to the axle housing, to position the required hole? This would enable the local installer to get the alignment correct on the actuator access hole. This would also be considerably cheaper when shipping than trying to ship an entire third member.

What about turning the KIA's AC into an air compressor??or do you think it will steel to much power from the motor being on for a long time.I saw one in a jeep and it worked great for filling tires.. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

It could be done, but are you sure that you want to abandon A/C? There will not be loss of power, because the engangement will be done by the switch, every time you need air pressure.

well, looks like it might be time to upgrade the compressor running the air ride in my car!!!! what are the air requirements for the lockers? how much psi? etc etc.... is it just a solenoid that would open to let the psi build, and no more air needed, then it dumps when you dump the valve? or does it require a constant flow of air?
im thinking of running a 5 gallon tank, that way i could set up to also run an airline for filling tires and such. and later if i get crazy enough, be able to run air tools. such a sweet set up, my buddie runs this in a tj and it has come in very handy on the trail. he is running an oasis winch compressor.
