Getting the Wheeling Fever

After all the time, Effort and money I have spent to get ready for this trip. This really stinks. Lloyd this is one of the very reason I'm not as active on this board. It seems like allot of talk and no action. Being self employed to be honest with you is even harder to take the days off since - "If I don't do it, It does not get done." Going to have to take CAP's advice and.. - "I guess it's time for me to get me a winch so I can start doing solo trips."

Great so you're not on here frequently enough to know what's been happening and then you complain about any changes.

If you're not regularly following what's happening & we can't contact you, then you're opening yourself up to a "surprise" like this. [/quote]

Actually I'm on this board all the time. Just because I don't have over 8,000 post don't mean that I don't frequent the board. I just decide not to post on most threads. I've been following this everystep of the way. The funny thing is your the biggest cheerleader here on this site and most of the time you don't even wheel. When was the last time you actually 4x4 on YOUR rig. Ridind in others don't count. Your lack of 4x4 skills shows everytime you go wheeling. I mean I never in my life seen someone stuck (high centerd) on a flat graded dirt road or drive over their sway bar. I also find it funny that you bust everyones balls about going to the mitsubishi event then you don't even show up yourself. What a poser. Did you actually think the price of gas was going to go down for that weekend. Onroader toss the pom poms aside, get that ride fixed and get out and drive. Or is it "Wake up and Drive." "I pity a fool."

Honestly...You dont need Lloyed or Offroader(onroader ) to go wheeling. Start your own trips! People like to act like they have "the keys" to a certain spot, and it might be helpful to go with experienced wheelers. But Who needs them?? Not me. I go all the time alone. Just be more careful. A wench would be nice, then she could dig us out.

Point; Its public land. Start a new group, and call it the "sierra challenger". PM me I'll go! REALLY.

Good points. There was another post on this forum from a group that just ran the Con. Certainly the trails we are doing are easier with an experienced guide. But the high Sierras trails are so brutal in general a group makes it easier to pass. I do alot of solo wheeling, but it makes me extremely nervous in the Sierras.

It also depends on your equipment and experience. For most "near stock" rigs these trails push the limits. For some like myself, Carlos and Kirk, and others the rigs are built enough to take some of the overwhelming challenge of solo away.

As much as I hate it I will be alone for the first half, but taking alot of precautions, easy lines and will not likely get stuck in my well built rig.

Bottom line is I have NEVER canceled a Sierra Challenge, and have made it one way or another. If you plan to make an agressive, week+ long trip, alot of checking in is warranted and feed back when requested. Planning is usually continous in the last few months. Granted, the dates rarely move so much .And if you dont like a change, such as switching Northern to Southern Sierras, simply chime in at the appropriate time. It is not just my vacation, it is yours as well.

So Lloyed, How far would two LS' get with open diffs on the Rubicon?? And this is why I have avoided that trail. But soon mister! You cant stop us stockers from dreaming. I'll quit hijacking your planning thread now. Take lots of pics and have a safe trip. -Chris
