Roll Me Over
I ordered the roof rack crossmembers from St Charles Isuzu. When I opened them up, they're about 1" too short on either side to reach, and they're just cut off. They obviously go into something that attaches to the rails that run down the roof.

Can someone get me pictures of the mounting hardware? Merlin (at St Charles) can't find anythign in the catalog. If you see an Isuzu part number on the mounting hardware, that would be even more helpful.

Thanks in advance. Ordering these parts after 2004 is harder than I thought.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
There are two kinds of roof rack crossmembers. One is flat and wide and attaches to the factory rack into the side slots. The other is round and fits into the Yakima towers that fit onto the factory rack. Both styles are available at Isuzu dealers.

Once again Merlin at St Charles Isuzu (800-727-8066) has been extremely helpful.

2004 Isuzu Rodeo, applies to similar model years.

Crossbars: $89.74 for crossbars.
They will not mount to anything, it's just the crossbars.
Nothing in the Isuzu catalog lists any attaching hardware.

Seperate accessory catalog
Isusu Crossbars: $90.01 for kit with two bars and the kit needed to mount them to the rails the run the length of the roof. (27 cents more) Mounting parts *not* available separately.
Model # 2-90005-100-0 193 in stock. Well, 192 after my order.

1. They called me. I didn't have to keep hounding them.
2. They're sending me a shipping label to send them back at St. Charles Isuzu's expense. Outstanding service.

you have the right crossbars. just hit the local pick a part junk yard. look for anything with a similar style crossbar. i just unscrewed the roof rails, and took off the part that slides down the channel. i think i got some off a blazer for my rodeo a couple years ago. perfect for about 5 bucks. and yea, if you want the part from the dealer, you have to buy the whole thing, roof rails and crossbars to boot. this was discussed about a year ago or so...

I'm a bit confused.

There are strips that run the length of the roof top, on the right and left side. They have some kind of lip in them, from what I can tell.

From there, I have rails that run front to rear.

Are you trying to find bars that go on top of the stock rack rails?

If you have found a different rack that will mount to the roof itself, I'd love to see it. Putting bars on the top of the rails makes the basket too high, in my opinion.

Sorry, been out of town beating the tar out of Old Blue.

I'm going to be over-clear on this one; not talking down to anyone.

The 2004 has the roof rails that run down the length of the vehicle (front to rear). There's a channel (slot) in the center of them, the channel on the left and right cross member face inward, toward each other.

Prior to 2004, the flattish cross members that want across the roof (driver to passenger side) came with. They didn't in 2004. No idea why.

To get and mount the cross members, you need the above kit. Do not order the crossmembers or that's all you will get; crossmembers with no way to mount them. Since it's only 27 cents more for the whole kit than just the cross members, I went for the whole new kit.

I originally tried a junkyard, but the ones near me would only sell the whole roof-rack, not just the cross member kit. Since I already had the roof rails, I didn't want to pay $60 and have to do all that work for a set that was banged up in an accident and might be damaged/warped anyway. Of course, I think they were totally screwing me on the price, supply and demand on Isuzu's being what it is.

The above information is incorrect, the dealer will sell you just the pieces you want. They'll even sell you just the individual locking screw, as I bought four of them since I tend to lose things. (You loosen the screw to slide the rails)

when i had my '00 rodeo, it didn't come with the crossbars. it seems this like everything they do, isuzu just put crossbars on the roof racks some years they felt like it and some years they didn't.

I got the roof rack information straighted out. For a few extra cents, the full crossmember setup was worth it. I haven't mounted them, but figured I'd put the pictures up so you could see the difference.

When you order just the crossbars from the parts catalog, you get this. Notice the lack of mounting parts.

When you order the crossmembers throught the seperate accessory catalog for 27 cents more, this is what you get (Model # 2-90005-100-0)

You also get a full set of instructions (you have to lift the current roof rack off to get these crossmembers to slide in); you also get some replacement foam washers and a sticker listing the weight limits.

Hopefully this helps someone else who decides to order this.
