I think the condition of the two engines and drivetrains would be the deciding factor for me. I'd do a Bona Fide compression and leakdown test on both engines and after considering mileage oil pressure and vehicle histories, decide which one to use. I would even consider using both engines and building a stroker (putting the 4.2 crank and rods in the 4.0 block). I also recommend the site CSP posted for more info. All you need to know is in the archives so you don't even have to post there (not that there's anything wrong with that!) if you are good at searching. I found a gas tank out of a 91YJ (At the local junk yard) with the skid plat, sending unit and fuel lines for $185.00. I'm going to look at it this weekend. When I buy it IÆm going to do the Vent tube conversion before I put it in. They say I can gain 4-5 gallons of capacity by doing this?

It's basically a 20 gal tank. I had a 91 YJ and it took 20 gals, I don't know if anyone had converted it or not, not me. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

It terns out that the gas tank I purchased from the junk yard has a plastic try or small baffle in the bottom of it and it was loose inside. I took it out and was wondering if the sending unit will still work properly? Or will my gas gauge bounce or not be accurate.

Same thing happened on my tank. I just took it out and threw it in the garabge. So far so good...

I had one of those too. I glued it back in place with GOOP sillycone glue... I do NOT know if it stayed or not. I never had problems with it after the glue. Big JIm <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />
