The one case that I remember was a mechanic in Arizona who was a friend of acquaintance of Bruce Anderson. Bruce has now moved to Idaho and now drives a Suzuki Grand Vitara after his 2nd Gen Trooper lost a battle with a mule deer.

IF Bruce's website is still around it has some information on the conversion, but not a lot of detail.

Also, I believe that it was a pre-Northstar engine that was used.

I just checked Bruce's profile here and found the reference to his website. There is a link to some photos and a very little detail. There is a notation, though, that the person who did the conversion does custom conversions and it looks like there is a link to his site, but I didn't follow that link.
