Getting the Wheeling Fever
Need new shocks and I'm clueless. Not interested in a lift or anything. Would just like to replace them with something as good or preferably better. I do a minimal amount of offroading.

This is what I was given prices on (so far) as possible options:

Local Garage:
Monroe (sensa-trac)

Local 4WD Shop:
Rancho RS 5000
Bilstein

Anybody have experience, opinion -- better options?

Thanks a lot!

If you're keeping it largely on the road, the Sensatracs will work fine. Ran Ol' Blue thru a big ditch after doing some yeehawing on some VERY bad ice; held up just ducky.

Shocks all-around or just front or rear? Bilsteins are nice but pretty expensive. If you arent doing much off roading then you could just search for replacements online otherwise you could look into rancho, pro comp, bilstein and some others. Sometimes even if you arent planning on much off roading you can still get a better ride out of some better shocks.

If you decide on the Rancho, get the 9000. The 5000 is pretty stiff.

Way back in the olden days, I had Monroe gas shocks on my '89 truck, they were a great replacement shock.

Thanks for all the input.
I'm torn between what might be overkill and feeling like I'm "dumbing down" the truck.

I'll make a decision by this weekend.

Thanks again!
