I picked up the truck in Calgary today - battery was dead but with a jump it fired up right away. Interior is nearly perfect and very clean. Tires look 80% new. No body rust. One scratch on a fender flare and one on the bumper - otherwise incredible condition. Needs a buffing but the paint looks good. Electrical retracting mirrors are a great party trick. Adjustable shock absorbers, too! The vehicle is in far better condition than I would have expected for age - perhaps it was stored indoors. Will wash, polish and get inspection tomorrow - insurance is already on. Photos coming as soon as I can. I am too busy with school this week to make another trip to Calgary. I am there 3 Saturdays a month for classes, though. We will have to arrange some grand meeting with the local 4D56 crew.

Passed the out of province inspection today - all I need is a wheel-alignment and a new air filter (K&N already purchased). Should be plated by Tuesday, Sept 5. The paint was filthy - I suspect one should expect any JDM to need a clay-bar treatment - it worked really well. Will do a highway run next week - brief excursion shows RPM lower than I expected - differnent gearing on automatics??

Got a pretty good handle on my revs now - been staring at them all week on the way to school. 3000 rpms, 110km/h. How usable is OD on yours? Does it kick down if you even hint at more throttle, or do you have to kick it? I will say for my lower geared 5 speed, that 5th gear, as low as it is, is very usable. I rarely have to downshift on the highway, even with trailer in tow.
Look forward to seeing it Neo. Pic looked great!

The gearing on slushboxes is also assisted by the torque converter, which can vary the RPM. In Cyprus we used to just leave the OD on unless we were patrolling the boonies, then we left it in 1 and let it idle down the trail. I don't recomend this but you can hop out and walk beside it in 1 at idle , as long as you have a slight uphill grade. They will go almost anywhere you point them, they are also easier to rock crawl as you don't have to worry about the clutch being burnt up.

Phil,
You getting 110 kmh @ 3,000 RPM in 5th ???
That seems like awfully high rpms. On my rig (GM A/T in OD, 0.70:1) 110 kmh = 2200 rpm. and in 3rd (1.00:1) 110 kmh = ~3,100 rpm If those #'s are correct, no wonder you can pull trailer in 5th!
