PLATED AND LEGAL, eh? The Pajero is now a real vehicle - took the family and dog out for a ride tonight. Turns around 2400rpm at 100km/h, very quiet ride with no rattling. Can't get the compass to work despite following directions on prior threads. Both batteries were dead and have been replaced. K+N filter fit fine as did the oil filter - thanks to all of you who have posted these numbers.

OH MY COOKIES - even the headlight washers work!! This is the photo from Japan - I know, I know - I am busy but will get some recent ones. I took the ski rack off (never used) and the foils in front of the windows (too noisy on the highway). I will leave the running boards on to annoy PHIL and to help my kids get in. Also, I will run the first tank of diesel with injector cleaner through before putting in the new fuel filter. A local dealer has asked me to sell it on his lot! I say no. Differences from PHIL's: this one has tinted rear windows, a spoiler and is an automatic.

Neo,
You should sell that ski rack on flea bay, some Monty owner would love to get it. Just so you know, 4Crawler makes slider/rocker/steps, that can take a beating and still look pretty. You go wheeling with those steps on, and they won't last long if you get hung up. I'm not saying you should tear them off, but you should look into those 4Crawler bits, or maybe even don makes them. I've seen side steps get mangled in parking lots too BTW nice ride. How long from purchase to delivery for you?? I am seriously thinking about sea canning one with some spare parts stuffed into the container as well.
always working

My running boards are recycled metal by now... My rear glass does have a med tint though, if we're comparing side by side.
Still getting 10L per 100km, Eric. Wonder how yours'll compare, with the slushbox? Are your tires okay to run for a while, or did you replace em?

I got my fuel filter at Crappy Tire, btw. Spec'd one for an 85 D50. Haven't tried it yet, but visually it looks the same. Still no compass? I hit the button, then did some circles, and it came alive. Does it "search" or does it just not come on? Was your toolkit and rear parcel shelf/rear "torch" in place and intact? Batteries were beyond charging up? That's too bad. Glad its working good for you so far. I'll be posting a 5k km update soon...

1. No parcel shelf across the back. 2. Tool kit missing a few things including "torch". 3. The running boards will stay on - I am not planning any real offroading and have no extra $$ for upgrades at present. 4. The tires had been replaced already - Falkens in excellent shape with about 70% tread on the front and 90% on the rear. 5. The compass - I have tried holding the S button down for a few seconds and then doing circles - it seems to "search" indefinitely before settling on a permananent South direction. Does the direction of the circles matter? Does the ground need to be level? 6. Macka - price out your spare parts elsewhere before ordering with a truck from Japan - I found the price was double that for parts from England.

Good idea, I'd be up for a group buy like that. I asked for a price list on various parts when I bought mine thinking they might be cheaper. Wrong! Belts and filters were a lot more in Japan.

Thanks Neo, I'll search around a bit more. maybe we should get all the CDN Jdm'er together and get some parts from Aus in a seacan. Why do you think only the JDM'er'er's would benefit from this? Are you trying to set up exclusive benefits for your little clique? I might be interested in some parts.
