yes this is Nigel, I am on the Calgary DSM forum with Eli...what kind of things have you been hearing about me from Eli??? he had mentioned a while ago he had a friend who bought a shorty pajero, that obviously is you Phil. Its funny, I have been on 4X4wire for almost 2 years but rarely used it until now.

It kinda sucks that I need bigger tires to fix this revving issue because the tires on my pajero are brand new.

The other option is to swap gears with someone who has higher (numerically lower) gears. A common diff ratio over here is 4.62 to 1 in the diffs. Eric (Eli's roomie and also a DSMer) would be up for swapping his 462s for your 488s I'm sure. This would lower your revs on the highway by a fair bit... he's running 33s on his Montero and is wishing for 488s to raise his revs a bit...

That would be the "right" way to lower your rpms at highway speed...

Now if I told you that, I wouldn't hear anything else, would I? Its all good my man. No worries...

Just did some checking...apparently, according to some online converters it looks closer to 29mpg... Truck was doing a little better when I first got it... somewhere in the low 9s per hundred, but its been going up (or is it down?) a bit lately. Tackling the fuel filter this afternoon... want pics, as per your other thread?

In any event, we've taken your original post waaaay OT. Sorry.

Neo, how many clicks have you been able to put on it so far? Is it starting okay on these colder morns?

Total of around 700KM so far - not so happy starting in the cold - my Dodge would start at -17C without any assistance!!

Fuel economy is around 10-12litres/100KM, or 187mpg according to an abacus in my friend's camel shed. (check www.onlineconversion.com)

Mileage seems to drop precipitously above 100km/h!!

The fuel filter will be project of the week - the POCUK article makes it look doable. Let us know how it goes for you - you can continue to usurp my thread...

Getting the Wheeling Fever
With my high top with a safari rack I get around 12 to 13 L a 100. I have 30" tires. I drive a LWB auto. Does anyone have a turbo timer installed. I think the shorties all get way better fuel economy compared to the wagons.

I do not have a turbo timer installed but I want to put one in. I am still having insurance troubles so I cant even drive mine to figure out what kind of mileage I'm getting. They say they will have it figured out tomorrow though. I am here in Brooks, AB. working anyways until wednesday so it doesnt make much difference to me.

well I finally got insurance today and they put it down as a Mitsubishi Montero...and to make up for the missing digits in the VIN they put a bunch of zero's in front of the actual 10 digit JDM VIN number to make it 16...that doesn't sound too legit to me...what do you guys think??? This thing is getting decent mileage for me so far in town too...I have 120km on my tank and only burnt 1/8 so far. I could get used to this. its weird to drive because its geared so low I am always grabbing gears with just in town driving. its like im driving a semi-truck hahaha.

I wouldn't worry about the digits... they just need to have it fit with their system. Our chassis numbers are not enough to fit with what they need in a 17 digit VIN. But calling it a Montero? Hmmmm.. As long as you're covered in event of an accident, then I guess its okay, but I'd maybe make damn sure, just in case...

yea well I thought I would have trouble getting registration like that but the lady at the registries says im totally covered with my insurance like that but in the event I get pulled over the cop will most likely be asking questions that my insurance says "montero" and my registration says "pajero" the VIN's are the same but the 2 different names makes it seem a little sketchy.
