I have a 1995 toyota 4runner with IFS up front and whenever I brake it pulls fairly hard to the right. I think that it is probably a worn out bushing but I dont know which one.

My runner also has a clicking on the right when turning at full lock to the right especially if I hit a bump.

Check your idler arm...

If the bushings in it are worn out, the arm can pull downward when braking, allowing the right wheel to turn right. You may also notice a quick side-to-side alternating pull when in 4WD.

Is that the same as the pitman arm, Im not really sure what you rtalking about (sorry newb question)

Pitman arm is the short arm on the end of the steering box. The idler arm is on the opposite side of the frame from the steering box:

A warped rotor will cuase the pull, a stuck left caliper or the right side caliper not fully retracting will also cause it to pull. A normally worn idler arm will allow it to wander, but noit usually pull hard. Worn out lower A-arm bushings will also cause it to wander and clunk on take off and breaking, but not pull like you are experiencing.

I would start with the breaks, pull the wheels and see if the calipers are working properly, check the pads-they should be worn about the same, and spin the right rotor to see if it looks warped. If the breaks look good then look to the idler arm and the rest of the steering linkage.

i had the same problem on an 86 4wd...turned out to be the right brake caliper was sticking and it ate the rotor paper thin in a matter of a months.

If your rotors are wearing evenly than ive got a braced idler arm if your interested. $75
