Getting the Wheeling Fever
I was wondering who has been to Tellico (Murphy,NC). It would be a weekend trip for me. I wouldn't want to get there and find out it's to hardcore or it's not worth it. Pictures?

Here is a web search with lots of pictures and articles...

I've not been there but I think you'll find everything from mild to wild there.

Your profile does not say hwere you are from, but I'm assuming itc close by.
Telico comes up a lot on http://www.nc4c4.com
thta's a good place to dig around.
General consensus is that it's pretty technical, definitely the most dificult of public places in NC.

I've only been there one time with my Bronco buddy, and certainly haven't seen all the trails.. but I would agree it is technical..and would depend on whether body damage is a concern for you or not.. it's likely due to a lot of the trails having overhanging rocks, tree stumps etc at fender height..

The pic below shows the typical overhang, certainly not the worst with regard to the fender grabber rocks or tree stumps sticking out.. it's pretty wide here.. other places you'll be kissing the overhang just to get through..

Here's a pic on Lower 2....

more pics here (a number of these pics and the rollover was at Slickrock), one of the more challenging trails. haven't been on it, but have heard schoolbus is another white knuckle trail..

btw the brand new Ford truck in the pics was a Ford Motor company test mule.. Harry gets paid to see if he can tear up their new trucks.. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

It looks pretty rough. I guess I won't go there with my DD 4runner, but I'm about to start building a trail truck. That park should be pretty fun.

You could probably do trials 4, 6, and 8 with your DD and not get body damage, maybe 5 as well. Obviously it can always happen but I plan to take my '90 Xcab DD up there to do those trails once a get a little lift and some 32s or 33s. You can also drive to the top of Lower 2 and watch if you want to see one of the tougher trails.

USMCTRD, when do you plan to go? I am planning a trip in October if you think you might be interested.
