I got a new VDP bar to replace my old one. How do I wire up the optional "dome light wire" to my door so that the lights come on when I open my door?

Did directions not come with the thing?

they did, but not for installing the optional wire (go figure <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />)

But im thinking I could just hook up that wire to the light that comes on when I open my door right?

Seems like that might be the thing to do don't it? I would trace it to see if it was a ground or should be connected to a hot wire.. But your plan seems correct.

okay so we semi finished the wiring.

The sound bar works, but we cant figure out how to get the dome lights to come on when the door is open! We pulled the door button (the one that the door impacts when its closed to keep the bottom light from going off)

we found three wires. A yellow one, a yellow one with a black stripe, and a black with a blue stripe.

We cut into the yellow one and spliced the wires together. That only made the lights come on when the door was CLOSED.

easy solution, cut into the yellow with black stripe. Nope, now they dont come on when the door is closed OR open.. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Since the only one left is the black and light blue, is this the one that works?!

cut and spliced the black wire...

now the door buzzer stays on when the keys are in the ignition whether the door is closed or not. And the dome lights didnt work.
