well, since i've recently aquired a Warn 8000i i've come up with the popular excuse to make my front bumper! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

i've already drawn this one up

i would really like some more ideas. I've looked in past forums and seen many pics, altho many more had expired links so i'd love any input.
Right i really like the "square tubing" look <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />---> if thats what its called, but anyways any pics would be appreciated for design aspects!

i have a spot for the fairlead which you can see in the second picture. Its on an angle....is that a bad thing? the fairlead the general warn one with the rollers, i'm not sure if it being on an angle will be problematic or not. The whole thing i designed is made to be a solid welded piece which can be bolted on in existing holes to the frame
i also omitted holes for the blinkers, etc...

thanks

but should i avoid putting things in front of the grill (like in this pic part of the winch) to allow the same airflow to the radiator? Would that little bit matter at all?

If your radiator's in good shape you'll be just fine.

I like the 8 & the 4 you have etched into the side of the winch mount. Custom. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

With as open as the bumper is, airflow to the rad isn't effected much at all. If the sides were enclosed and the rad/coolant system wasn't in good working order, you would find out real quick. This is what happened to a buddy after he installed an ARB bumper and winch. After reconditioning his coolant system, the truck w/bumper/winch worked fine.

thanks <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cyclops.gif" alt="" />
Hopefully I can post another design tomorrow night
i like the stuff thats been posted so far! keep it comin <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

also, does it matter if the fairlead is angled foreward like my first deign or should it be verticle like most bumpers? I can't think of any situations where it would be problematic--because of the rollers, but then again i've never used a winch before, so i have no experience to base my assumption...
thanks

well, here's the new and improved design. It has a lot of new features. It has retractable KC lights on the top of the bumper, still have the grille guard, lights on the bottom shining back towards the axle for night wheelin, blinkers, and a nice space for the winch and fairlead!

i omitted the mounts to my frame, but they will go just above the backward facing lights....
it still feels like i'm forgetting something <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

oh, any comments or improvments greatly appreciated. I plan on building the final design for my truck over xmas break!
