Here's the info on the particular model I was looking at:

4 - KYB Gasajust Front and rear Shocks for Mitsubishi Montero 1992-2000

PART NO.: 2 Front KG54302
2 Rear KG54303

Condition: New Set

FEATURES:
KYB's GR2 Series shocks and struts are specially designed to deliver moderate handling. A patented check valve minimizes foaming and aeration to make sure the ride is stable, even under rough conditions. GR2 shocks and struts are a low pressure gas twin tube design. Good for normal to moderate performance driving. Velocity-Sensative valving
Hardened chrome piston rods
Twin-tube design
Multi-lip seals
Check valve to eliminate foaming
Low pressure Nitrogen gas
Iron pistons and guide rods
Seamless tube body

I"ve been running Rancho 5000 for many years (too many). Would these KYBs be an ugprade, and worth the money? ($180 for the set), or would I be better served putting the money toward a different make/model? I know this will be opinion mostly, but I'll appreciate any and all imput. I want these for my '92. The factory shocks on the '95 perform like they're new smile. I'm not a fan of super stiff suspension for offroading.

I replaced the stock shocks with these around 110k on my old 95 LS and they made my Montero look like it had a slight lift (due to the orignal stock shock sag). They provided a great ride.

The Gas-A-Just is a high pressure shock, and I recommend them highly. They are stiff on-road, but as soon as the pavement disappears, they are hands down the best shock I have ever used.

The GR-2 is NOT the same thing as the Gas-A-Just. I have not used them. Which one are you referring to? Your initial post says the former, while the description you have cut and pasted in is referring to the GR-2.

Never mind. I went to the KYB site and looked up the part number. It is for the Gas-A-Just. Buy 'em.

Designed to deliver maximum driving control, KYB's Gas-a-Just« High Performance Shocks provide a high performance ride. Gas-a-Just« High Performance shocksÆ higher gas pressure keeps tires glued to the road while its superior strength monotube design with floating piston makes for fade-free performance and the seamless cylinders and eye rings provide durability. The Gas-a-Just« High Performance Shocks offer a wide range of applications including RVs and motor homes.

Yes, they are high pressure. I made the mistake of cutting the hold back strap thinking they were "regular" shocks. I had to use the "powers of grayskull" to get them back down <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

I must have had more Wheaties than you. I never had a problem compressing those things.

Body Damage is Cool
An earlier post of mine talked about replacing my stock OEM shocks on my 1992 since it may be time. Would these Gas-Adjust KYB's be an upgrade from stock?
