I just got my 85 pickup down to the frame and am ready to start buildin' it back up. But I am completely stumped on what lift to put on it. This is my first lift project so I can use all the help I can get. I am definatly going to install all-pro's high steer kit. I need new shackles, bushings, bumpstops, shocks and springs. Right now I am going between pro-comps 4" lift that comes with new springs all-around(not blocks for the rear) or a lift from all-pro, possibly their extreme lift kit or just springs (4") and all the other stuff I need. Also, I am going to be running a 2" body lift and I really don't plan on runnin' tires larger than 33's. The truck will be a daily driver and I generally do not do much rock crawling, mostly just trail drivin. Any advice or tips would be really appreciated. I want to get workin on it but want to make sure that I buy the right stuff. Thanks ahead of time.

I would suggest All Pro, Marlin or Alcan leaf springs. Procomp leaf springs are junk.

Also, I am going to be running a 2" body lift and I really don't plan on runnin' tires larger than 33's. The truck will be a daily driver and I generally do not do much rock crawling, mostly just trail drivin If all you are going to run are 33's, you don't need the body lift, or 4" springs. You should be able to fit 33's with a 3" spring lift, or run the 2" body with a little fender trimming. The trimmed fenders would be covered by fender flares, which will be needed if running a 33x12.50 tire in most states. Your goal should be to lift as little as possible to fit the tire you want, you definately don't need 6 inches of lift to clear 33's.

If you only plan to run 33's, I'd suggest something completely different. Skip the body lift all together and go with OME 2" lift springs all the way around. If that doesn't sound appealing, throw a complete 3" marlin kit at it - which will get you about 4-4.5" of lift with the drop front hanger.
If you need more lift out of the 2" OME, you could always install a 1" drop hanger from FRORF.
Brian K. Gallus I have nothing important to say.

And kick your axle forward 1.5", it's the right thing to do for so many reasons. At least do it .75", which is simple to do by drilling the axle's spring perch to relocate the center pin of the springs.
Since you are installing an IFS steering box, it would be simplest to do that now. Even if you don't take full advantage of doing so.
FYI, Do NOT drill the springs.

W/o moving the front axle forward, you will need about 4" of lift to fit 33s: - http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/4R_suspension.shtmlOtherwise it is farily tight at the rear of the front wheel well: ![[Linked Image]](http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/Images/wheel_rub.jpg) Here is basically the same setup with the axle 2" forward (with a rear->front spring swap): ![[Linked Image]](http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/Images/Phase-III/Fshocks7.jpg)

Your goal should be to lift as little as possible to fit the tire you want, I agree, I am definatly concerned about being too tall and tippy. My buddy's 4runner was like that with just a 4" pro comp lift. I just want to make sure that I can get enough articulation. I've never ridden in a truck with ome springs. Do they give a nice ride on the street along with on the trail? Also, thanks for all the advice. I really appreciate and need it.

Marlin sells great stuff. Recently 4x4wire did a review of his springs, its on the frontpage or just click hereMany people don't like the ProComps...
