Getting the Wheeling Fever

i've got a torn boot on my cv shaft and was planning on replaceing the whole thing. i figure after 215k she deserves new ones. anyhow whose done it how tuff is it?
also i found this site http://www.off-road.com/toyota/cheaptricks/quickcv/ which talks about pressing out the studs and replacing them with bolts. another thread that i found said press out at least 2. can i remove all the studs and replace them with bolts and nuts?
do i need to loctite them or are lock washers enough. from what i have read with this mod it is a poc to replace the shaft. anyone know?
