Last night at around 21:40 I hit a deer at about 55 mph. The truck still drives ok as I had ARB on it. There is some damage, hood, part of the ARB, Hellas, around headlight. One thing for sure, if I had no ARB the truck would be totaled. Few minutes after I hit the deer, some Spanish speaking guy stopped and asked for it. Two of us could not load it onto back of his F150. Question is, how should I deal with the insurance in regard to estimate considering that most of the front is aftermarket. ![[Linked Image]](http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/sfinx4x4/HPIM2434.jpg)

Don't most policies cover aftermarket up to a point?
I'm seeing aftermarket lights damaged, but stock hood & supporting hood assy's.

Wow man that sucks. I'd try to get the insurence to buy a new ARB.I've heard of people getting ARB's instead of their stock bumper, because it was cheaper that way. The ARB looks like it held up pretty good really.

I am afraid you had to keep the deer for the insurance. Now, how do you prove it was a deer, not a ... say... policeman, for example ?
Do you have contact number of the Spanish guy ? you probably can use him as a witness. I suppose he does not have the deer intact by now, unless he is a sort of weird fellow (like, he worships deers or else).
You are lucky to have an ARB bumper, this could be a dangerous accident otherwise.

Don't even get into stock vs. aftermarket with them. I would have the idea that they are going to pay for everything to get back "Just the Way It Was" before the accident. If they say anything different, it will be time to start negotiating.
Either their estimator will come look at it or they will have you take it to a reapir shop.

Yea, I'm going to the place I had some worke done before for an estimate. Just want to see if I should ask for replacement of ARB or repair. There is some damage to is and I hope they will not try to repair it. ![[Linked Image]](http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n74/sfinx4x4/HPIM2440.jpg)

Yeah, that last picture helped. I didn't see the ARB damage.
You might want to shrink the pictures a little bit, as they overwhelm the forum width at 1280x1024 and make for a lot of side to side scrolling to read.

I think what they'll probably give you a major hassle over is no police report. That's what my insurance is always asking for. I hit or should I say an 8 pt. hit me several years ago in the country and I called the cops to come out. If I hadn't done that they would not have even talked to me.

We will see tomorrow, going for an estimate. BTW, because there was no other property damage I should be fine without calling the cops.

each company is different on this. Some require that you actually add insurance extra for after market parts. ie 3000 dollars worth might cost and additional 4 dollars a month.
it is based off percents. They will cover the hood no problem, I think it to be a strtch to replace the arb. they will cover it without proof of the deer. you amy sacrifice rates on the other hand though. Look for hair int he grill and what not. leave it there and then call them.
