Well, trying to divorce the EFI from the smog equipment could be opening up a can of worms. A good part of what reduces smog on an electronic controlled engine *is* the EFI. The ECU is programmed to expect the smog parts are installed & functioning properly, so eliminating them may cause unexpected problems (or not, guess it depends on what you eliminate). I may leave it attatched and then eventually reattatch it, just i've never dealt with it and would rather not try to through that into the equation of the rebuild.
