4H will kill your transfer case on pavement. There has to be some way for the front tires to slip from the back tires. Even if you have brand new tires of exact size it will still bind the transfer case.

There are 4x4's you can drive on pavement like my Land Cruiser because it has a transfer case that lets the front and rear tires slip. 4x4 on pavement wastes lots of gas.
