For stuff like that, I'd just go to a junk yard (one that lets you pull your own parts preferably).

Yeah, I tried that......I had no luck in finding any without dents and /or rust.
Also by the time the body shop got it stripped, cleaned and primed I could have had a new hood shipped primed for the same price.

Not knowing what year your rig is (or what you even have, for that matter), if it's old enough to find more than one in the junk yard it's likely that it's also old enough that the only place you'll find body-parts is the junk yard.

As is the case with pretty-much most of us on here, if you want parts like those, and you want to reduce costs, you either have to find one on a junker and do the work yourself or you have to get lucky with a private-party seller.

If you have a newer rig, then you'll have to pay to get it new or (again) from a private seller or a junker if you could find it. In any case, the more work you do yourself the less it'll cost out-of-pocket.

I've mentioned this elesewhere before, and probably should be added to some "resource" page.

Try this site - it's a catalog of your local, regional and national junkyards.

Tell it what part you need and it'll show you who has it, how much, etc etc. Sometimes you have to call for price, but eh - it beats calling 20 different yards asking if they even have one:

Car-Part.com

I did a basic query for an 89 Monty hood in the Mid Eastern section of the U.S. and had at least 30 hits for years 87 thru 91, different conditions, etc. You should have some luck with this site for the hood and anything else.

Good hunting,
Jim
