Getting the Wheeling Fever
The problem is on a 99 4runner with a power rear window. It has a dent in the rear window whichpinched the bar connecting the part of the lock where the key goes to the locking mechanism. It is not pinched too hard since you can basically jimmy the rear window to lock/unlock it. The window was functioning normally until it was lowered all the way down. When the window was lowered almost all the way down it stopped working no noises nothing it just won't go back up no matter how hard you pull on it. When you try to use the power motor there is nothing no noises or anything which makes me think it is electrical, but I looked at the big orange window relay in the back door and it looked fine. Any help would be apprechiated.

Im not sure on the 2nd and 3rd gen Runners... But the 1st Gen had a trip switch that disables the rear window if it thinks its misaligned so that it doesent break the glass. For fun check and see if the rear window wiper arm is completely locked in place. If its not because of damage the rear window will not operate.... That is also an issue on the older 4Runners....

Just a thought.

My '97 4Runner also has a kill switch in the wiper sensor. If the truck thinks that there is a problem with the rear wiper arm, like it's not back to the original position, it will disable the window from moving up/down. Make sure yours isn't damaged, preventing the motor movement.

Too close for missiles, I'm switching to guns...

My 92 had a switch so it wouldn't go up if It thought the tailgae was down. I Think it also is associated with the key mechanism. Maybe that is the problem. you might be able to by pass the sensor/ switch?

Bear in mind the newer Runners have a hatch, no tailgate <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
