Yeah, sorta, it is better for farmers, but it takes a lot of oil to make ethanol especialy out of corn. Corn doesnt grow well by itself, so you have to dump lots of petroleum based fertilizers, and pesticides on it, to grow it. I talked to a farmer about this, and they use the corn to feed cattle even and sell teh waste to ethonal plants. It takes 250 gallons of oil to grow a corn fed cow, the ethonal is jsut a little extra. Switchgrass is better, but you cant grow fat cows with it, and make fuel.
THe best bet we have is trains, and buses, but people would rather make wider highways, and bigger more distant suburbs.
