Since I'm too poor(read cheap) to buy a winch I decided to buy a hi-lift instead. Does anyone have mounting ideas(homemade, remember I'm che...Poor). I have it somewhat mounted to the roll cage behind the rear seat using an exhaust clamp for the base. Any ideas on what to fab to mount the top....Thanks as always

I mounted mine on the rear bumper. I drilled 2 holes in the bumper, put a bolt through put on a nut, used a 3/4" pvc pipe cap with a hole in it large enough for the bolt to go ghrough as a spacer, and then bolted the jack to the caps. Small bunjie cords to keep the handle from dragging and I am done. Total cost including jack was less than 10.00.

In the jcw cat they have a bar which mounts to the front bumper and has two wing nuts with bolts protruding from the bar that the hi-lift can attach to. It looks very clean and up and out of road salt, sand, other stuff. I'm guessin with a lil creative prowess you could come up with somethin similar for allot less money.

Ok I've come up with two options for mounting it...The first uses an exhaust clamp hooked to the roll bar behind the rear seat, with a flat steel thingamagig(yet to be fabbed) attaching the top...The second one I came up with this weekend while in the woods, since I don't have a spare tire yet I put it vertical using one of the studs and bolted it to it. Worked good and stayed tight the entire weekend....This one won't last when I get my spare so it's gonna be the roll bar mount...I'll have some pics soon....Thanks again for all the good ideas, especially you Big Jim...

Hey I have an even better one now! GET A SPARE! It is a hell of a lot more necessary than a high-lift. When you stick a stob in one of your tires that high-lift ain't gonna help you one bit!

Maybe you could replace the studs on your spare tire carrier with some longer ones and mount it under your spare. Would be kindof a pain to get to, but it should work.
