Well, the oxidized '88 has been leaving quite a puddle wherever it's parked lately. It seems to be coming from the vicinity of the oil filter housing, as the puddle concentrates under that area. I thought it might be the pressure sender, but after a cleaning with engine-brite it shows no signs of a leak there.

Any common causes of leaks in this area? I plan on cleaning from the underside to see whether it might be the pan gasket, although the leak seems to be related to pressure since it stops dripping after a while when the truck is sitting. Could the oil pump be causing the trouble? I seem to recall it's in the same area under the timing cover.

Thanks for any insight.

you know, i just replaced the cam & crank seals when i replaced the timing belt (this past spring). I didn't even think to replace the oil pump seal. i guess i should take another look under the timing cover.

I found mine to be the pressure switch, but it only leaked when I revved the motor. It actually was squirting pretty bad when I revved it <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />
