I run the weber 38 with hedman header & msd ignition. The setup is simple to tune,jet and trouble free. However, the truck was set up that way when I bought it so all I had to do was tune & jet the weber (once I got it setup, I haven't had to touch it). I get 17mpg winter, 18 mpg summer and 16 mpg offroad, very consistently. For 99% of 4 wheeling I prefer gears over horsepower, so if I was spending the money I'd take gears and a locker over engine mod's anyday. Not to mention, keeping it smog legal which increases your available market area if you ever sell it. Just my 2c.
