Hello, new to this forum. So far it has been very helpfull, though I dont understand the search feature. When I put a subject in I get lots of stuff not related to my search. Anyway, I bought a 88 Mitsu Montaro for 600.00. It was making lots of noise when started. The guy tried tighening the timing chain but it didnt help. Looking through ther forums I deducted it was the guides. I pulled everything apart and sure enough, the balance shaft guide was broken and the chains worn. I opted to change the timing chain and put a eliminaton kit in. I have the chain on to the oil pump. Do I have to wory about timing it to the crank? Also thier is a short metal cylinder and screw that came in the elimination kit, were do they go? Anything else I should be doing while I have the timing cover off and oil pan off? Thanks, Nate

1988 2DR 5SP 2.6l Monty. Balance shaft elimination kit installed. 120k miles. Timing jumped, pulling motor to see what needs to be done.
