BobRowe, it was just an article found. Someone else's problem.
Marcilui, the TPS for your Jeep costs $79 US at the local parts store. They can be found cheaper but be sure to get the right one for your Jeep if you decide to try it. As BigJim said, buy one and put it on, what have you got to lose (besides $80)? It may or may not be the problem. You may need to buy a tool for the job also, Some I've seen use Torx screws to hold them on. The screws also may have thread lock compound on them so be sure to use the right tool and don't strip the heads. I've even seen one Jeep that had security Torx screws (like regular torx but with a pin in the center) in the TPS.
The story you found is why I hate to think about transmission shops. People are generally so uninformed about how transmissions work they will believe the only option is a complete overhaul or replacement of their finicky transmission. Usually the shop will talk the "Mark" into buying a rebuilt transmission. Then the shop, at their leisure, will repair the other transmission for very little money and sell it for $1200 to the next poor guy that comes in needing a TPS or a simple adjustment. Its quite a racket, like some brake shops, they offer free inspections playing the safety card, they will always find problems. And if they think they can get away with it, and they often do, they sell the customer hundreds of dollars worth of new parts they really didn't need. I'm sure there are good honest shops out there, I just don't know where!

Pete, I dont know why, but my feeling is that-TV Cable is to loose. Make sense to me now, case I remember after washing, the car start very hard and I push and relese the gas pedat many, many times. I think the TV cable is loose. Now, I took out one cable, the throttle one, cause the pedal imake no work(loose).Beside is another one with a couple of small metal balls (~8-10). That is the TVcable? If is not working this way I gonna buy a TPS. How sound? How can I attach an image saved on harddrive?

My experience with those type of detent rods and cables is that when taken OFF completely the tranny shifts at the lowest possible mph. Then when tightened up all the way the tranny thinks you have the pedal depressed to the floor..ie it shifts at the highest possible speed. So I would look to loosening the cable.. Working the gas pedal or washing the engine shouldn't have had any effect on the adjustment. BigJim is correct in that as throttle is opened the cable tightens and the farther the pedal is depressed the longer shifting is delayed, but, I drove mine with the TV cable disconnected once (I forgot to reconnect it after rebuilding the transmission) and it upshifted more or less normally, I suspect the TV cable adjustment affects Downshifting more than upshifting.
I would try disconnecting the cable from the throttle and drive it and and see if it still acts the same. If it does, the cable adjustment is not the problem. I'm not even sure your 90 is setup the same as mine, for all I know you may be looking at a cruise control cable. Do you have cruise control?

I'll see what hapend.Than I shall disconect it. Pete, I have a cruise control but it's not working. The cable (with balls )is very loose...-I don't know if THIS is the problem with my cruise.

Ok go for it! As for the cruise cable.. I think they should be loose until the cruise is set.. I could be wrong on this depending on the variation of the control. Big JIm

My Cruise control cable is very loose when not in use and there is no adjustment for it that I can see (it has no balls). The switch on the steering coloum is problematic on Cherokees. Mine is bad. I took one from a parts car but it was bad also so I hot wired the CC. It's always on and I can't use the "resume" or "accelerate" function but I can cruise!

Wow 128C/1.118=114.49US. That's pretty steep! Autozone.com sells them online for $68 US. Don't know if they ship to Canada though, maybe.
