The rear gear kit that indy has say it will do it for a 98 to 03 isuzu rodeo. It also says it then allows you to drop any locker in it. So this kit won't work for my truck

It can work, but like Rodeo guy said, you will need to have a spacer machined to sleeve the new pinion, in order to match the larger than usual, stock pinion. Like was mentioned, 4.77's are an option, and from what I recall, new factory 4.77 R&P's are still available, but they run around $450. This is the same as the stock pinion, so you wouldn't have to use a sleeve. You then would have to locate a 4.77 front 10-bolt 3rd from either a '98 amigo, or Trooper. If you re-gear, you can install a standard carrier, which will accept any drop-in locker. You can also install any full case locker like Detroit or ARB.

The other option is to locate an entire 4.77 axle and swap it in.

It can be done, but the cost vs reward starts getting pretty thin if you have to pay a shop to do custom work. Most people run 32's with stock gearing with little problem.

If you're interested in locating gears, start on car-part.com. The modified D-44 gears should be available from st. Charles Isuzu.
